Abstract


The identification of homogeneous classes of learning styles with the aid of the Learning Style Questionnaire of Honey and Mumford (1982). The aim of the present study was to determine whether individuals can be classified into natural classes according to the four learning style dimensions of the Learning Style Questionnaire (LSQ) of Honey and Mumford (1982), viz. activist, reflector, theorist and pragmatist. The sample comprises 549 male and 258 female subjects. A cluster analysis was performed. After careful consideration of the sets of clusters, six clusters were selected as optimal.

Opsomming
Die doel van die studie was om vas te stel of persone in homogene klasse ingedeel kan word aan die hand van die vier leerstyle van die Leerstylvraelys van Honey en Mumford (1982), te wete aktivis, pragmatis, reflekteerder en teoretikus. Die steekproef bestaan uit 549 mans- en 258 damestudente. Ten einde vas te stel of die steekproef studente in natuurlike klasse ingedeel kan word-aan die hand van die vier leerstyle van die LSQ, is 'n bondelontleding gedoen. Na deeglike oorweging van die stelle bondels is besluit om ses bondels as die optimum te kies.
